Here's a pick of my hubby and me. He's been an incredible support to me, my biggest fan.

And here are my three kids, on top of a box car. (They are boxcar children!) Not something you see every day!

Congrats on your book! I got the inside scoop from Marcus at Good Word Editing-sounds great.

Thanks VERY much for commenting on my post! Your email address bounced me back.
Kim at Raising Five actually recommended Authentic Parenting to me JUST THE OTHER DAY! It's been on my to-read list ever since!
You know, if I had thought that Christian novellists would be reading my post, I would have phrased it much more gently. As it is, I HAVE read Christian fiction that I thought was terrific - it was the sappy stuff that I was talking about. I'm sorry if you felt like I was lumping you in as an author with that group.

Blogger Karen said...

Mary, it was my privilege to participate in the AP tour! May many parents receive and apply your message.

Mary,
I'd love to have a copy of your book that you mentioned on Beck's blog. Tracy

Not sure if I'm in the right place or not, but trying to add my comment to the free books drawing. :)

I'd really like to be entered in the drawing for these books. This is where my heart is right now.

Please enter me in the drawing!

Yes - What a great idea!!! I am reading one of the right now but don't have the other two - I would share my duplicate with a friend though - IT IS WONDERFUL and needs to be shared!!!

Blogger Gina Conroy said...

I've read all your fiction. I think it's about time for your parenting books!

Please sign me up for the drawing too...I already have 2 of the 3, but I don't mind giving them to friends.

I really enjoy your work, God let me find it at just the right time in my life.

Blogger VAIL said...

I would love to win any of those 3 books, but my first choice would be the "Authentic Parenting" book. I read your Chocolate Beach book and really enjoyed it. I want to read the AP book because I am interested in learning more about the "Postmodern Culture", the cover looks like such a happy, fun family!

Blogger Kristin Early said...

Even though I have two of the books I'd love to share these 'prized' ones with friends.

And, don't worry about the word'postmodern' scaring off some booksellers. You're just ahead of the curve, in a few years they'll call you a visionary!

Blogger A Musing Mom said...

What mom can't use another book (or three) on parenting? And how about the time to read it too?

Thanks for taking the mantle at TWV2. I'm learning a lot there!

Blogger michelle said...

Tina has alrady had me read ( and love)several of your books.....but I'd love a chance to win them for my own and share with my friends.

Blogger megan said...

I've read 2 of these already, and would love to have copies for our little church library!

I would love to be entered in your contest. Thanks! Melinda

My husband and I are currently serving as missionaries with Child Evagelism Fellowship in Paris. I would definitely love to see your take on raising kids in postmodern France specifically. Your book sounds fascinating.

I stumbled upon your website this morning, and as an aspiring writer I am very encouraged!

I'd like to get it on the "free parenting book" contest to start.

I love your novels. I love your blog. I can only guess I will love your parenting books. Count me in on the free book contest. Thanks!

Perhaps, if you were him, you would not smile either. Let me tell you his story. His name is Bill, but I’ll call him Bob for short.

Bob finished cleaning out his paint brushes and roller before he turned to his co-worker and asked, “have you go this under control? I need to head home.”

“Sure,” his friend said. “I’ll put the rest of this away. Have a good weekend.”

Bob left the school where he was working and took off walking toward his house. He had chosen to walk to work that morning. He wasn’t sure why. It really wasn’t the best decision he had made. It had been hard getting there that morning. He had walked through the wind and the rain the whole way. At least the rain had stopped, so the walk home was a little better, but it was still a ten mile hick across town.

Fortunately, on the way home, a friend saw Bob walking and offered him a ride. Bob climbed onto the handlebars of the bicycle and the two of them rode in the direction of Bob’s house. Things were going well until one of the tires blow out on the bicycle. Bob offered to stay behind and help, but his friend told him that there was nothing he could do right then. Bob walked the two blocks to his house.

Along the way, Bob saw a man with some flowers. “Would you like some flowers for your wife,” the man asked.

Thinking that his wife would appreciate the flowers, Bob asked, “how much do you want for them?”

“O, I don’t want money,” the man said. “I just need a favor.”

“What kind of favor?” Bob asked.

“I just need you to stand here holding these flowers with a stern look on your face while I take a few pictures.”

Mary- congrats on the book!

I think it might take a bee coming out an stinging him to get a response out of him!

Sue

There once was a writer named Mary
Who posted a picture of a guy who looked scary
He hasn't smiled
In quite awhile
But get a look at those flowers he carries

You asked for bad limericks, so I felt obliged to submit one-- seeing as how no one else did! Ü

Ohhh.. Beauty and soberness side by side. What a unique shot.

Timothy, you get the prize for the funniest story. Sue, you may be right. Marybeth, you get two gold stars for a bad limerick, and LL, thanks for the photo compliment.

This was a fun exercise. It was difficult thinking about what I was doing 10 and 20 years ago without figuring out how old my kiddos were. Thanks for doing this.

In hindsight, I wish I'd thought to mention what cars I was driving. Let's see, 10 years ago it was Silver Dodge Caravan, 20 years ago it was Silver Honda Wagon, and 30 years ago I'd just bought a brand spankin' new RED VW Rabbit. There, now I feel old.

Mary, I'm looking forward to getting to know you and your writing.

Welcome to the High Calling Blog Network. This is Gordon Atkinson. Marcus Goodyear and I are moderating or encouraging or something. Even we don't know what to call it yet. We've been flooded with requests, and we are currently sorting and trying to get everyone into a category on the High Calling Blog page. You'll hear more from me in comments as I read your work. For now bear with us as we try to get this thing started.

Relevant Prose ezine is gone,
But Mary's wise words live on.
Her blog and View Two teach us,
Lines to make us laugh still reach us.
See, the man's frown cover now is blown.

How's that for a sadly-rhymed limerick?

Heard about your blog through Chip MacGregor's blog. I heard you were ahead of the game and Chip was right. Your last post is dated Oct. 1, 2008!

What is the best way to get hooked up with a publisher? I like to write and have had a number of people suggest I should continue to write and to see about writing a book of my own. I don't know that my blog will truly show my content but I could sure use some help and advice on where to really begin.

This is the one I use more frequently than my blogspot.
